I put this question up on behalf of one of my clients as it is a question I was asked last week. I know this is a question that allot of people ask, but sadly at the moment this is not possible in Portugal without first getting married at a registry office normally in your own country before coming to the Algarve for the ceremony. There is an exception if you can prove residency in Portugal for 30 days or more but it is very complicated and time consuming and we do not recommend this course of action. It is much simpler to do the legal and civil part of the marriage in your own country prior to you and your guests coming to Portugal for the ceremony.
